With fantasy football officially behind us, it’s time to prepare for the 2021 season. This past week I have collected some data which includes draft results, season long stats and fantasy points for most players.
Today I will be taking a deep dive into the RB’s of 2020. In week 17, we saw Derrick Henry run for 250 yards eclipsing the 2,000 yard rushing mark for just the 8th time in NFL history! Unfortunately week 17 is irrelevant in most leagues. However, we do see King Henry in our top tier of RB’s as he comes in at RB3 with 325 fantasy points, 21.7 points per game.
Below we have the top 50 RB’s in fantasy this year.

In round 1 we saw 7 RB’s drafted (CMC, Barkley, Zeke, Kamara, Henry, CEH and Cook) in that order. We won’t include CMC & Barkley since they missed most of the season due to injury. But, the other 5 all finished in the top 20. Dalvin Cook finished as RB1 with 345 fantasy points, averaged 23.05 points per game. Only Cook, Kamara and Henry scored more than 20 points per game so they’re our top tier RB’s of 2020.
In a distance 4th we find James Robinson the steal of the draft, who finished with 233 fantasy points, 15.59 points per game. He was an afterthought in almost all leagues, an undrafted rookie playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars who would’ve thought!
You see the 21 players highlighted in different shades of green, these are the only players to average more than 10 points per game over the first 16 weeks of the season. It’s very important to hit on those early round RB’s as there are only a few that were able to stay healthy and put up consistent numbers.
In my previous post I talked about my strategy to wait on drafting a QB and loading up on RB’s and WR’s early this is why. We compared Patrick Mahomes QB1 to Big Ben QB12 and we saw a 8.91 difference in points per game. Lets look at the difference between RB1 vs RB24. Dalvin Cook averaged 23.05 points per game and J.D McKissic RB24 averaged 9.72 points per game that’s a 13.33 difference. Having good depth at the RB position is a recipe for a deep playoff run.
