With fantasy football officially behind us, it’s time to prepare for the 2021 season. This past week I have collected some data which includes draft results, season long stats and fantasy points for most players.
Today I will be taking a look at WR’s in 2020. In round 1 we saw 4 WR’s drafted in the first round (Michael Thomas, Tyreek Hill, Davante and Julio Jones) in that order. MT WR64 and Julio WR40 battled injuries all season long and didn’t pan out as expected. On the flip side Adams and Hill finished as WR1 and WR2 respectively.
Below we have the Top 50 WR’s in 2020.

The Steal of the draft was rookie phenom Justin Jefferson who finished as WR7 and was drafted in the 12th round. Jefferson replaced Stefon Diggs in Minnesota who was traded to the Bills during the offseason. Diggs had a huge year finishing as the leading receiver in yards and receptions in 2020, he finished as WR3 and was a great value pick in Round 5. Speaking of the Bills Cole Beasley finished as WR17, the best undrafted receiver in our league.
In my previous posts I’ve mentioned my personal strategy of loading up on RB’s early and waiting on a QB. That brings me to WR’s, as the style of play has changed over the years WR’s are becoming more and more valuable. Similar to RB’s I think it’s very important to load up on WR’s early as well. Let’s look at the difference in WR1 and WR24 to show how valuable they are. Davante Adams finished with 310 fantasy points good for 20.68 points per game. Cooper Kupp finished with 168 fantasy points good for 11.24 points per game; a difference of 9.44 points per game. Being able to start up to 3 WR’s it’s extremely important to have good depth.
